Vinca

A few days after Christmas and prior to the end of the year, my 10th shawl for 2010 was finished:

This is the wonderful Vinca pattern by Miriam Felton, who by the way currently offers 3 of her

patterns for the prize of two(check her Ravelry page). It was not an easy knit for me. Don't ask why, but somehow I just could not memorize the pattern and so had to check the chart regularly, which was time-consuming and still involved a lot of knitting back. But it was well worth the effort. I love the construction of this shawl. You begin at the centre of the square and then when this is large enough, you just cast off two "wings" and proceed over the remaining two. Thus it combines the advantages of stole and a shawl, you have a lovely covered back while you can easily drape it like a stole on the front.

Das Tuch gefällt mir ausnehmend gut, obwohl ich eine halbe Ewigkeit für seine Fertigstellung gebraucht habe. Irgendwie konnte ich mir einfach das Muster nicht merken und mußte ständig die Strickschrift konsultieren. Das war zeitaufwändig und dennoch mit einigem Zurückstricken verbunden. Aber "Ende gut, Alles gut". Mir gefällt die Konstruktion dieses Tuches sehr gut. Man beginnt in der Mitte des Quadrates und wenn es groß genug ist, kettet man zwei Seiten ab und strickt gerade Teile an den verbleibenden zwei Seiten an. Somit hat man hinten über den Rücken schön Tuch und kann es vorne wie einen Schal drapieren.

There is another finished Vinca on Ravelry which looks very lovely and has been knitted in only 8 days!!! (Guess how dumb that makes me feel :D)

Inzwischen gibt es noch ein fertiges Vinca-Tuch bei Ravelry, das sehr schön ist und nur in 8 Tagen gestrickt wurde!!!
