Bloomsbury 2

We’ll interrupt the series of Fos 2007 to present the first FO of 2008: Another Bloomsbury scarf knit for Knitwitches Yarns in Wales from their wonderful silk in this amazing color.

The pattern can be purchased either from KnitwitchesYarns or if you live in London from Stash on Upper Richmond Road in Putney.

I was very curious to see how this delicate lace would turn out in this color and I love the effect. Again it was a great pleasure to knit Knitwitches pure silk. This time I tried EZ’s sewn bind-off instead of the “p2tog, put stitch back onto left hand needle” and I think, I have found my perfect bind-off for lace. Nothing is so elastic as this sewn bind-off and it is quick, too. Not at all tedious, which I always expect hand sewing to be.

Kyndra Scarf

Remember the yarn my first Secret Pal sent me? Not only did I knit the mittens for my mother from it, but also this wavy scarf. I really love the colors Kyndra chose, especially for this grey time of the year.

Here is my variation of this common pattern:

Yarn: sock yarn or slighlty thicker yarn. Needle size: 5 mm.

Cast on 30 sts. Knit 3 rows.

Row 1: k 8 , *2yo-k1-3yo-k1-4yo-k1-3yo-k1-2yo-k1*, k5, *2yo-k1-3yo-k1-4yo-k1-3yo-k1-2yo-k1*, k8.

Row 2-4: knit (yo are knit as 1 stitch)

Row 5: k2, *2yo-k1-3yo-k1-4yo-k1-3yo-k1-2yo-k1*, k5, *2yo-k1-3yo-k1-4yo-k1-3yo-k1-2yo-k1*, k5, *2yo-k1-3yo-k1-4yo-k1-3yo-k1-2yo-k1*, k3.

Row 6 – 8: knit (yo are knit as 1 stitch)

End knitting 3 rows. Bind off all sts. Weave in loose ends.

30 M anschlagen, 3 R kraus rechts stricken.

Reihe 1: 8 r, *2U-1r-3U-1r-4U-1r-3U-1r-2U-1r*, r5, *2U-1r-3U-1r-4U-1r-3U-1r-2U-1r*, 8r.

Reihe 2-4: rechts (U als 1 M stricken)

Reihe 5: r2, *2U-1r-3U-1r-4U-1r-3U-1r-2U-1r*, 5r, *2U-1r-3U-1r-4U-1r-3U-1r-2U-1r*, 5r, *2U-1r-3U-1r-4U-1r-3U-1r-2U-1r*, 3 r.

Reihe 6 – 8: rechts (U als 1 M stricken).

Zum Abschluß 3 Reihen kraus rechts arbeiten, abketten. Fäden vernähen.
