Diva's don't knit

Well, here you can see what happens if your friends give you Gil McNeil novels Diva's don't knit and Pearls and Needles to read. I have thoroughly enjoyed both novels, especially her depiction of The Very Important Type - who doesn't know someone like her... And sure enough, I wouldn't say no to having a yarn shop at the coast in South England and be personal knitting coach to a Diva. In the novel the author describes repeatedly how Jo decorates her shop windows - and this put me in the mood to knit decoration myself. The result is a new front door deco for spring.

Here is how to make one yourself/Anleitung:

Materials needed/Material:

Cardboard
50 g green cotton for the ring
200 g cotton in various colors for flowers and leaves
1 copy of Nicky Epstein's Knitted Flowers.

Karton
Nicky Epsteins Knitted Flowers.

How to:

Cut a circle from your cardboard in the desired diametre. Then cut from this circle another one, that will leave a ring of approx. 4"/10 cm. Wind the 50 g green cotoon around this ring. Fix it with a knot.

Knit as many flowers and leaves as you need to cover the ring. Sew or knot (or glue) flowers to ring. Make a string and attach it to your ring. Finished.

Fertig.

I selected these flowers from Nicky's book:

Buttercups
Cabbage Rose
Florets
Les Fleurs

Gryffindor pullover

Oh my goodness, March draws to an end and I still have not shown you the sweater I knit form my son for Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, he is a HP fan and I have wanted to knit a Gryffindor sweater for him in a long time. I had a look at various versions on the net, but finally settled on buying one for these socks (blog). I changed the lion pattern - a few more rows and stitches. Added chequerboard cuffs to a otherwise stockinette raglan sweater.

The hardest bit was to find a red yarn that was tolerable for a Gryffindor sweater. Most were either too light (this is still not the perfect color) or too purple for a boy's sweater - or if the color was right, the yarn was too bulky and hot...I was tempted to give dying a try.

And I just discovered these socks.
