Viktorianische Halbhandschuhe

My husband and I visited this fantastic exhibition by Olafur Eliasson on Sunday and were smitten with it. Originally the plan was to see Frida Kahlo's work, however, 60 - 90 mins of queuing was not our idea of a pleasant Sunday. I am very happy with the turn events took, as Eliasson was a very interesting experience. When we left the museum, we took the chance to take a picture of my Victorian mitts in front of the poster announcing the exhibition.

The mitts were a very fast project knit from the gorgeous Silk-Alpaca blend by Blue Sky Alpacas.

At Handmade the kit for these mitts costs Euros 9.90 including the pattern and a ball of Anny Blatt yarn. It was all very nicely packed in a one-way plastic salad bowl - very cute for a present. However, the instructions are only given for the right hand mitt. It is left to the knitter to figure out how to do the left- hand. Now, this did not really pose a problem, but left a disappointed and annoyed impression with the kit.

Am Sonntag waren wir in dieser sehr schönen Ausstellung von Olafur Eliasson. Ursprünglich wollten wir ja in Frida Kahlo Retrospektive gehen, aber 60 - 90 min Anstehen war nicht nach unserem Geschmack. Ich bin froh darüber, denn Eliasson ist eine sehr interessante Erfahrung. Nach der Ausstellung haben wir meine "Viktorianischen Halbhandschuhe" vor dem Poster zu fotografieren.

Die Halbhandschuhe waren ein ganz schnelles Projekt, das ich aus einer sehr weichen Seide-Alpakamischung von Blue Sky Alpacas gestrickt habe.

Das ich dennoch nicht ganz zufrieden mit mit dem Projekt, liegt an der Strickpackung, die Handmade dafür verkauft. Für 9.90 bekommt man einen Knäuel Anny Blatt Wolle plus Anleitung, sehr schön in einer Wegwerfplastikschüssel verpackt (sieht ganz toll aus für ein Geschenk). Allerdings mußte ich dann feststellen, dass nur die Anleitung für die rechte Hand aufgeschrieben war, wie man die Linke dazu stricken soll, bleibt der Strickerin überlassen. (An der Handfläche sind die Handschuhe 2 r - 2 l gestrickt). Es war natürlich kein Problem die Anleitung für die andere Hand umzuschreiben, aber enttäuscht war ich trotzdem. Für knapp 10.- Euro hätte ich eine ordentliche Anleitung erwartet.

Esther socks

I have not yet shown you my Esther socks which have been finished a long time ago. It is another pattern by Stephanie van der Linden and this time the fit is better.

Hier sind meine Esther Socken, die schon vor einiger Zeit fertig geworden sind. Es ist wieder eine Anleitung von Stephanie van der Linden und dieses mal passen sie besser.


Pattern/Anleitung: Esther socks by Stephanie van der Linden (free Ravelry download)
Needle size/Nadelstärke: 2.25 mm
Yarn/Wolle: Jawoll sockyarn

Rhubarb Apple Crumble

I love love love rhubarb and I love apple crumble, so why not combine the two?
I liebe Rhabarber und ich liebe Apple Crumble, also warum nicht beides mal kombinieren?

Here is a picture of the delicious dessert we made on Sunday:

And here is the how to:
1 kg Rhubarb wash, peel, cut into pieces
2 apples wash, peel, cut into pieces (I love "Elstar", but you
can use your preferred apples)
1 cup of vanilla flavoured sugar mix with apples and rhubarb (I store 1 kg of sugar and
two vanilla beans in a plastic container for this delicious
sugar).
Fill mixture in a casserole dish.

Crumbles:
Mix

120 g melted butter
150 g sugar
200 g white, non-raising flour

Sprinkle crumbles over fruit mix and bake at 180° C/356 Fahrenheit (?) for about 30 mins.
Vanilla sauce goes excellently with this dessert.

Und hier das Rezept:

1 kg Rhabarber, waschen, schälen und in Stücke schneiden
2 Elstar Äpfel, waschen, schälen und in Stücke schneiden (wer es lieber süßer mag, kann auch eine süßliche Apfelsorte wählen. Ich mag es säuerlich)
80 g Zucker unter das Obst mischen (Ich nehme dafür Zucker, den ich mit 2 Vanilleschoten pro Kilo aufbewahre.)
Mischung in eine längliche Auflaufform geben.

Streusel: 120 g Butter schmelzen und mit
150 g Zucker und
200 g Mehl vermengen, bis sich schöne Streusel gebildet haben.
Streusel über das Obst geben und ca. 30 min bei 180°C im Backofen backen. Dazu schmeckt Vanillesoße sehr gut!

Wip 5 - Mountain View Cardigan

When I first saw this cardigan, I immediately fell in love with it, bought the pattern and cast on. Alas, it is knit from Lang Jawoll sockyarn in a dark burgundy color. As a result, a row takes AGES to finish. Moreover, since I am still in mourning, it is not a "pressing" project. Therefore, I only work occasionally on it. In the picture you can see the hem for the body and about 2 rows into the body and the beginning of the first sleeve.

Als ich diese Jacke zu ersten Mal sah, gefiel sie mir gleich so gut, dass ich die Anleitung kaufte und sofort dafür anschlug. Da ich sie aber aus Jawoll Sockenwolle stricke, dauert eine Reihe ewig. Außerdem stricke ich sie in einem dunklen Burgunderrot, und da ich noch immer Trauer trage, eilt es mit der Jacke also nicht. So arbeite ich nur gelegentlich daran. Auf dem Foto sind der Anfang von Vorder- und Rückenteilen sowie der Anfang des ersten Ärmels zu sehen.
