A few month ago, Mimknits published her first book: Twist and Knit. The book's aim is to provide the modern knitter with patterns that will use up all the one-of-a-kind skein of yarn that are so popular these days.

My first finished object from the pattern book are these wonderful socks. I love Mimknits designs for their beauty, elegance and excellent instructions.

Have you seen her newest collection of glove patterns? I have put it on my wishlist for Christmas.



Vor einigen Monaten hat Mimknits ihr erstes Buch Twist and Knit herausgebracht. Ziel des Buches ist, eine Reihe von Anleitungen zu liefern, die exakt einen Strang der modernen, handgefärbten Wolle aufbrauchen.

Mein erstes fertiges Projekt aus dem Buch sind diese wunderschönen Socken. Ich liebe vor allem die feine, schlichte Eleganz ihrer Designs und ihre klaren Anleitungen.

Habt ihr schon ihre neue Publikation "The Silver Screen Collection" gesehen? Lauter wunderschöne Handschuhe. Ich habe sie auf meinen Wunschzettel für Weihnachten gesetzt.

Stanley

This may not be the best picture of myself, however it is the only one I can find on which you can see the not quite finished Stanley blanket I knit for my niece in August. You can see me on the beach at Burton Bradstock, my Juneberry Triangle around the head to protect myself against the sea wind. My husband did take a picture of the finished blanket before we sent it off to Cologne, but we just cannot find it.

Dies ist sicher nicht das vorteilhafteste Foto, aber das einzige, das ich finden kann, auf dem man die fast fertige Babydecke sehen kann. Stanley habe ich im August für unsere Nichte (die an meinem Geburtstag geboren wurde) gestrickt. Ihr seht mich am Strand von Burton Bradstock mit meinem Juneberry Triangle als Windschutz um den Kopf. Wir haben auch von der fertigen Decke ein Foto gemacht, aber es momentan unauffindbar.

The blanket was a lovely holiday knit, although I thought in between I would never finish it. It is not a small blanket at all. You have to add a border of approx. 10 cm on each end to the blanket as you can see it in the picture. the final result was very lovely indeed.

Die Decke war ein sehr nettes Ferienprojekt, obwohl ich zwischendurch dachte, ich werde nie fertig. Die Decke ist sehr groß. Ihr müßt Euch an allen 4 Seiten noch einen ca. 10 cm breiten Rand hinzudenken. Meine Kinder mochten die Decke sehr.

Für die Decke habe ich Baumwolle aus meinem Wollvorrat in unterschiedlichen Erdtönen verwendet.

Remember the Japanes crochet book I received for my birthday?One of the patterns is for a string full of flowers. I loved it so much, I had to put all other projects down for a while and make one for my autumn front door decoration:

Geburtstag

My birthday took place again two months ago and I still have not shown you my lovely presents! I have decided to finally go ahead with although one beautiful cone of laceyarn is missing on the picture. You will just have to wait for the finished project to see that gorgeous green.

Mein Geburtstag ist ja nun doch schon eine gute Weile her und ich will endlich mal einen Teil meienr Geschenke zeigen, auch wenn ein wunderschönes grünes Lacegarn auf dem Foto fehlt. Da müßt ihr wohl aufs fertige Modell warten. ;D Sobald ich mit den Weihnachtsgeschenken fertig bin, werde ich mich an diese wunderschönen Garne wagen. Very handy are these boxes. You can either transport nuts, apples or stitch markers etc in them. Their motives will always cheer me up.

Of course, my friends and family did not forget to give me some reading material too. I have read all but one of the books I received for my birthday and very much recommend Daphne DuMaurier, The Frenchman's Creek - I haven't read such a compelling, cozy adventure in a long time. Very different, but another excellent read was Rona Tearne's The Swimmer.

Frilly Sleeves

This extraordinary sweater has been finished for quite a while. However, except for the photo, I have not been wearing it. It is made of 100 % silk and I have discovered while working on it, that I am allergic to silk yarn! Thus, my dear friend J. is now the happy owner of this marvel.

Dieser ungewöhnliche Pulli ist nun auch schon einige Zeit fertig. Leider mußte ich während des Strickens feststellen, dass ich gegen das Seidengarn allergisch bin. Daher hat meine Freundin J. diesen Pulli nach den Photoshooting "geerbt".
