A few months ago, I bought myself an inexpensive sewing machine, because I wanted to start sewing again, but knew I would not have a lot of time for it, as most of my free time goes to knitting.
But, when I participated in a few book-related swaps, I got out the sewing machine and, finally, made these book bags:
Vor ein paar Monaten habe ich mir eine günstige Nähmaschine gekauft, da ich wieder mehr nähen wollte, aber wußte, dass ich nicht viel Zeit dafür haben würde. Stricken und Lesen nehmen meine Freizeit in Anspruch.
Nun habe ich aber bei ein paar Buchtauschs mitgemacht und dafür diese Büchertaschen genäht:
Hier habe ich eines der möglichen Muster ausprobiert.

Meine Nähmaschine stickt sogar Wörter auf Stoff!
This bag was for my friend Ingrid and I knit the fabric on the machine, then felted it and afterwards made the bag. Unfortunately, the parcel has not arrived at her home. I wonder what happened to it.
Diese Tasche habe ich für meine Freundin Ingrid gemacht. Erst den "Stoff" auf der Maschine gestrickt, dann gefilzt und schließlich genäht. Leider ist das Päckchen nicht bei ihr angekommen. Ich frage mich, was wohl damit passiert ist.

The sewing machine could not have been too inexpensive. Mine goes backwards and forwards and makes buttonholes and that is it. It is nearing its fiftieth birthday. I can't ever get another as this one is such an old friend.
PS. The bags are great!
These are beautiful! My daughter is 6 1/2 and a beginning reader...you have inspired me to make one for her.
